Alabama Grabs Senior Day Win in Four Sets Sunday over Missouri
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama volleyball capped its regular season slate with a four-set win over Missouri Sunday at Foster Auditorium on senior day.
Alabama’s (13-12, 5-10 SEC) win over Missouri (17-10, 8-7 SEC) gives the Crimson Tide back-to-back conference wins for the first time since a pair of wins over Mississippi State on Feb. 26-27, 2021 as part of the 2020-21 split fall and spring seasons. Alabama’s five SEC wins this season is its highest mark under Head Coach Rashinda Reed, currently in her fourth season with the Tide.
Alabama will open SEC Tournament play at EnMarket Arena in Savannah, Ga., as the No. 12 seed facing No. 13 seed South Carolina on Friday, Nov. 21 in the second match of the day which will take place 30 minutes following the completion of the Noon ET match between Oklahoma and Arkansas.
Leading 15-13 in the first set on Sunday, Alabama fired off seven straight points to jump ahead 22-13, eventually winning by an eight-point margin at 25-17. Missouri evened the match with a win in set two by nearly the same score, 25-16. The Tide never trailed in the third set, starting off on an 8-2 run and holding steady to win, 25-16, to lead 2-1. With Alabama leading 14-11 in the fourth, the Tigers swung back ahead after an 8-2 made it 19-16 in the visitors’ favor. Three straight kills from Kaleigh Palmer, Victoria Barrett and Lily Gervase tied it up and forced a Missouri timeout at 19-19. After four more tie scores made it 23-23, a Tiger service error gave Alabama the ball at match point and Barrett capped the win on her own senior day with an ace to win it, 25-23, and complete the four-set win.
