Woodring Named SEC Special Teams Player Of The Week Again
ATHENS, Ga. — Redshirt junior QB Gunner Stockton has been named the Southeastern Conference Special Teams Player of the Week after the Bulldogs’ 41-21 rout at Mississippi State, according to a league announcement.
Woodring, a native of Lafayette, La., is the fifth Bulldog to earn an SEC weekly honor this season. QB Gunner Stockton (Offensive) and Woodring (Special Teams) garnered accolades following the road win over No. 15 Tennessee and OL Monroe Freeling was the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week after the victory over Auburn. Stockton was also named the Offensive Player of the Week after the win over No. 5 Ole Miss.
Woodring drilled a 49-yard field goal and a 46 yarder to add to the Bulldogs’ total during Georgia’s win. His 49 yarder cut UGA’s deficit to 7-3 in the opening quarter while his 46 yarder put an exclamation mark on Georgia’s eighth win of the year.
The No. 5 Bulldogs (8-1, 6-1 SEC) will play host to No. 10 Texas (7-2, 4-1). ABC will televise the matchup at 7:30 p.m. on Dooley Field in Sanford Stadium.
