Gators Put Unblemished Record On The Line Thursday vs. Jacksonville

Last Updated: November 9, 2025By

GAINESVILLE, Fla.— This Monday, Nov. 10, the Florida Women’s Basketball Team will once again put its undefeated record on the line as the Gators look to improve to 3-0 when they host Jacksonville in a 7 p.m. EST tip at Exactech Arena at the Stephen O’Connell Center.

The 2024-25 squad won its first three games of the season, while the 2023-24 version started the year with a 4-0 mark. The 1983-84, 1995-96, and 2000-01 Gators hold the program record for most consecutive wins to start a season with nine straight.

Florida is 4-1 against Jacksonville, and has won each of the last four meetings between the clubs. All of those wins came on the Gators’ home court, and each was by double figures. The last time these teams met was Nov. 28, 2017 in a 69-59 Florida victory. Haley Lorenzen scored a team-high 20 points and added 11 rebounds, while Delicia Washington just missed out on a double-double of her own with 12 points and 9 boards.

Heading into Sunday’s action, preseason All-SEC Second Team selection Liv McGill has put up eye-popping numbers, etching her name in the record books alongside the likes of Catilin Clark, Kelsey Plum, and even Dwayne Wade (See McGill notes below).

She ranks third among all NCAA Division I players in scoring (32.0), tied for fifth in assists per game (9.5), tied for sixth in steals per game (6.00), and tied for 19th in made three-pointers per game (4.0).

McGill has been far from a one-woman show, however. Sophomore Me’Arah O’Neal has a pair of point-rebound double-doubles to start the season, and is tied for fourth in the SEC in rebounds per game (10.5) and tied for ninth in blocked shots (2.00).

Junior Laila Reynolds is averaging 12.0 points per game and is tied for fourth in the conference in steals per game (4.00).

Three additional Gators have at least one double-digit scoring effort under their belt this season, and the team is connecting on a robust 53.0 percent of its shots from the field on the year.

Jacksonville is also 2-0 on the season with early non-conference wins over Charleston Southern, 86-84, and Florida Tech, 75-47.

Freshman guard Tatum Brown paces the Dolphins in scoring at 18.0 points per game, while graduate student Priscilla Williams is averaging a 13.0-point, 10.5-rebound double-double from one of the other guard positions. Although Brown is connecting on 59.1 percent of her shots from the floor, as a team, Jacksonville is making just 39.6 percent of its attempts on the year.

McGILL NOTES

D-WADEING INTO UNCHARTED TERRITORY

Over the first two games of the 2025-26 season, Liv McGill has scored 64 points, grabbed 17 rebounds, handed out 19 assists and picked up 12 steals. Per OptaStats, “the only other NBA, WNBA or Division I men’s or women’s player this century to have 60/15/15/10 in those categories over a 2-game span was Dwayne Wade from Feb. 28-Mar. 2, 2009.”

FLORIDA FIRST

In well over 100 combined years and thousands of player games of Florida men’s and women’s basketball, no Gator had ever recorded a game with as many as 38 points and 10 assists, or 38 points and 7 steals. Liv McGill accomplished both of those feats in the same game on Nov. 6 vs. Chattanooga.

CLARK, PLUM, McGILL …

Liv McGill became just the sixth player in NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball history since the 1999-2000 season to record a game of 38+ points, and 10+ assists when she scored 38 points and handed out 10 dimes against Chattanooga, Nov. 6, 2025.
