Alabama Falls to Oklahoma in Three Sets Friday in Norman
NORMAN, Okla. – Alabama volleyball fell to Oklahoma in three sets Friday at McCasland Field House by set scores of 17-25, 22-25 and 22-25.
Alabama’s (11-12, 3-10 SEC) fell behind early after Oklahoma (15-8, 7-6 SEC) scored four unanswered to start the first set, remaining in front for the remainder of the frame to win 25-17. Neither team was able to take a lead larger than one point in a hard-fought start to set two until an Oklahoma attack error put the Crimson Tide ahead 11-9. The Sooners called their first timeout trailing 14-11 and tied the score three times before retaking the lead at 19-18 on a service ace. The Sooners held on to the late lead to win, 25-22, and take a 2-0 match lead. The teams traded points back and forth again to start set three and, just like in set two, Alabama took a 14-11 lead to force Oklahoma to call a timeout. The Sooners fought back and pulled ahead on a service ace at 18-17 but the lead was short-lived as the Tide responded with three in a row to make it 20-18 at Oklahoma’s final timeout. The Sooners fought back after the break, ending the match with five unanswered to win, 25-22, and take the match.
