Beach Operations Announces Temporary Road Closures
in Grayton Beach
Walton County, FL – 10/30/25 – Walton County Beach Operations will be closing Hotz Avenue between DeFuniak Street and Garfield Street from November 3 – 20 and December 1 – 17 for construction of the pedestrian plazas, as well as repaving a portion of Hotz Avenue.
This area will be closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic and will not have any on-street parking available during construction. Homes located in the alley between DeFuniak Street and Garfield Street will be provided access via a temporary route.
All businesses along Hotz Avenue will remain open and accessible by our beach tram that will pick up/drop off at the corner of Garfield and Hotz.
The west Grayton Beach drive-on access is expected to be closed temporarily between 12/4 – 12/17 as the roundabout is reconstructed. Only vehicles accessing homes beyond the cul-de-sac will be permitted. Beachgoers will need to use the east drive-on access during this portion of construction.
DeFuniak Street is expected to be down to a single lane from December 18 – 23 for resurfacing. Drivers may see minor delays while waiting for oncoming traffic, but the area will remain passable.
All activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution when traveling through work zones and watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
