Gumps Take Down Hammers 11-3 to Open Fall World Series
 
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Gumps (Team Gray) opened Alabama’s baseball’s Fall World Series with an 11-3 win over the Hammers (Team Crimson) on Thursday night at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. Below is a look at the most impactful performances from the split-squad exhibition.
The Gumps
- John Lemm reached base in three of his four plate appearances, finishing 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, an RBI single and a hit-by-pitch
- Evan Steckmesser worked a game-high 3.1 innings, totaling four strikeouts while allowing just one run on two hits
- Chase Kroberger was 2-for-4 with three RBI and a stolen base
- Jon Young Jr. collected two hits in three at-bats, adding a stolen base and a hit-by-pitch
- Andrew Purdy was responsible for a 2-for-4 night with two singles
- Justin Lebron managed a 1-for-2 effort with two walks and three stolen bases
- Sam Christiansen closed 1-for-3 with an RBI single, a walk and a stolen base

- Bryce Fowler was the lone man on his side to notch multiple hits, finishing 2-for-3
- Joe Chiarodo tallied one hit in three at-bats
- Sam Mitchell logged a team-high 3.0 innings, allowing just one run with four strikeouts
- Evan Taylor went hitless though earned three walks
- Brennan Holt was 0-for-1 with one RBI
- Peyton Steele was responsible for a sacrifice fly in his two official at-bats
