Florida to face Ole Miss in East Lake Cup Semifinals
The Gators are 2-0 against the No. 12 Rebels in match play with both meetings (2018, 2023) taking place in the SEC Championship Quarterfinals.Tomorrow’s semifinals match is set for 12:20 p.m. with live coverage on Golf Channel starting at 3 p.m. The winner will take on the victor of Arizona State and Virginia for the tournament title on Wednesday.
Today’s single round of stroke play was altered to nine holes due to a three hour weather delay and darkness as play began at 2:45 p.m. after scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. The men’s team played the front nine and women back nine.
Senior Parker Bell had the team-low round for UF with a 2-under 34 for a T2 performance, tying his career-best. He started his second appearance at the tournament with a birdie and added two more on par-5 sixth and par-4 eighth.
One of four golfers to play bogey-free was Jack Turner with a 1-under round. It marked his team-best seventh low round as he tied for 4th.
Also playing in his second East Lake, Luke Poulter logged an even-par 36 as the junior had a great par save on his final hole. Sophomore Zack Swanwick also had an even nine holes as the two finished T9.
The non-counting score came from Matthew Kress (20th) with a 39 (+3).
