Ghosts Reign Supreme in Annual Ghosts and Goblins Intrasquad Meet

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Fans got their first glimpse at the 2026 Alabama gymnastics squad Friday night with the Crimson Tide’s annual Halloween-themed intrasquad – Ghosts and Goblins.

Competing in front of a packed-out Frances Smith Practice Facility at Coleman Coliseum, the Ghosts edged out the Goblins. Despite trailing through the first three rotations, the Ghosts steamrolled through the floor exercise to tie the score and force a stick-off to ultimately capture the victory.

The Ghosts were led by super senior Jordyn Paradise, as Jasmine Cawley, Brooke Dennis, Ryan Fuller, Karis German, Kylee Kvamme, Chloe LaCoursiere, McKenzie Matters, Rachel Rybicki and Jamison Sears rounded out the squad.

Super senior Corinne Bunagan led the Goblins, competing alongside Love Birt, Gabby Gladieux, Gabby Ladanyi, Noella Marshall, Natalia Pawlak, Azaraya Ra-Akbar, Derin Tanriyasükür and Paityn Walker.

“Tonight was a really strong opener. Our goal coming into it was to ‘send it’ – to commit all-in to our approach, knowing that there was going to be mistakes, there was going to be some landings that weren’t quite the way we wanted them to be yet, but we wanted to get our approach right. I was excited to see that. While there are a lot of wins, there are certainly a lot of areas that we’ve got to get better at, and we’re going to be the team, and staff, that goes back to the drawing board and figures out every little half-tenth that we can get. So overall, while I think it was a really strong start, we’re not content. We’re going to keep finding ways to be undeniable.”

“I think Aza [Ra-Akbar] was really a standout. She trains like that all the time, but I think with freshmen, you never quite know how they’re going to compete until they have to compete, so it was cool to see her settle in and look the same as she does in training. I think McKenzie [Matters], Jazzy [Cawley], Noella [Marshall], Derin [Tanriyasükür] – everybody made an appearance on some event. That’s exciting to see; you want a freshmen class who’s going to build on the team from last year, and I think this class certainly did that tonight.”
