Hardin Named to SEC Community Service Team
ATHENS, Ga. – University of Georgia senior defender Cate Hardin was named to the 2025 Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, as announced by the league office Thursday morning.
Throughout her four years in Athens, Hardin has been a leader in both the local and athletic communities. The Marietta native has volunteered with Feed My Starving Children, assisting with the packing and distribution of meals kids to individuals globally faced with food insecurity. She also worked with Extra Special People, a local organization dedicated to creating relationship and support systems to individuals with special needs.
Hardin currently serves as a volunteer coach for Athens United Soccer Club, working to train and teach local youth soccer players, while previously serving as a volunteer at Clarke Central High School, where she served as both a coach and mentor to the girls’ soccer team. Within the UGA student-athlete community, she is in her third season a team representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, working with administrators and fellow student-athletes to promote leadership and engagement.
Hardin has also been awarded numerous academic and athletic honors in her career. She was named a team captain for the 2025 season after serving as the junior representative to the team’s leadership committee in 2024. She was named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team and has been named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll in all three seasons, as well as the J. Reid Parker Director of Athletics Honor Roll in each semester.
On the field, Hardin has appeared in 77 matches with 66 starts, leading the team with over 5,500 career field minutes on the back line. This season, she scored her second career goal at Texas A&M and has tallied four assists, earning two straight weeks on TopDrawerSoccer’s National Team of the Week.
Hardin and the Bulldogs close out their regular season at Mississippi State on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 3 p.m. EDT. Following the match, Georgia will head to Pensacola, Florida for the 2025 SEC Soccer Tournament.
