No. 11 FSU Travels to No. 3 Virginia Thursday on ACC Network

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 11 Florida State soccer team takes to the road for the final time in the regular season at No. 3 Virginia on Thursday, October 23, on ACC Network.
 
Kickoff from Klöckner Stadium in Charlottesville, Virginia, is at 6 p.m. ET in the nationally-televised matchup between two teams tied for fourth in the ACC standings.

Florida State is 8-2-3 on the season and tied for fourth place in the ACC with 14 points and a 4-2-2 record after a 2-2 draw to RV Cal on Sunday afternoon. The Seminoles are 5-1-1 at home, 3-1-2 on the road and 1-2-0 against top-25 foes. FSU has shut out its opponent in eight of 13 games, with multi-goal victories in each of the eight wins. Virginia 10-1-3 in 2025 with a 4-1-2 ACC record.
 
Thursday marks the third time in four games, all in the last 15 days, that the Seminoles will play a team that was and still is ranked No. 3 or higher in the national polls. FSU opened the stretch on October 9 at Notre Dame, ranked No. 2 at the time and now No. 1. It continued at home vs. Stanford on October 16, a team that was and still is No. 2, before Thursday’s game at No. 3 Virginia. Additionally, eight of Florida State’s 10 conference games are against teams in the top 10 in the ACC standings, the most in the league and two more than any other team
 
FSU has scored 36 goals with 39 assists on 241 shots and 102 shots on goal in 2025. In 13 games, the team has allowed 10 goals on 80 shots, 31 on target, with 21 saves for a 0.780 goals-against average and a .677 save percentage.
 
Junior forward Jordynn Dudley and sophomore forward Wrianna Hudson lead the team with 20 points. Dudley has 10 points and 44 shots and is second with five goals. She is on an 11-game point streak, with multiple points in five of the last seven games. Hudson paces the squad with 10 goals and 21 shots on goal and is second with 34 shots. In goal, redshirt sophomore Addie Todd has made 17 saves in her nine appearances for a .708 save percentage and a 0.84 goals-against average.
 
In the national rankings, FSU is No. 7 in the country in goals per game (2.77), assists per game (3.00), points per game (8.54) and shots per game (18.54), No. 12 in goal differential (+26), No. 14 in shutout percentage (.615), No. 16 in corner kicks per game (6.85) and No. 23 in shots on goal per game (7.85).
 
Individually, Dudley leads the NCAA in assists per game (0.77) and is fourth with 10 total assists. Hudson ranks No. 11 in goals per game (0.77) and No. 19 in shot accuracy (.618).
 
In the polls, Florida State is No. 11 in this week’s United Soccer Coaches top-25. The Seminoles also are nith in the Top Drawer Soccer poll. In the latest RPI, FSU is No. 14, while the team is No. 6 in the first DI Top-16 Committee Rankings, unveiled on October 12.
 
SERIES HISTORY VS. VIRGINIA
In a series that began in 1995, FSU is 12-21-8 all-time against Virginia, including 6-17-5 in ACC matchups, 4-7-4 at home, 2-9-1 on the road and 5-4-2 at a neutral site. Florida State is unbeaten in four straight and is 12-6-3 since a 2-1 win at the 2011 ACC Championships. That stretch includes a 3-0 win later in the 2011 NCAA Tournament that sent the Seminoles to the College Cup. The stretch includes two memorable 1-0 wins, in the 2014 national championship game to win the program’s first NCAA title and the 2021 ACC championship game, along with a 2-2 draw and PK triumph in the 2015 ACC championship match.
 
FSU has won three in a row against UVA, 1-0 in the 2021 ACC title game, 1-0 in Charlottesville in 2022 and 4-0 a year ago in Tallahassee. In last season’s home victory, then-No. 22 Florida State posted a 4-0 win over then-No. 23 Virginia. The home side took a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute, and Solai Washington made it 2-0 in the 23rd when she converted a penalty. Hudson extended the lead to 3-0 with an assist from Dudley in the 34th minute, and it was 4-0 in the 76th minute courtesy of Giana Riley, as Mimi Van Zanten notched an assist. The Seminoles out-shot the Cavaliers 20-8, with a 9-4 advantage in shots on goal, as Todd made four saves for the clean sheet.
 
SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS
Virginia is 10-1-3 on the season, 6-0-1 at home and 4-1-2 on the road. The Cavaliers are 4-1-2 in the ACC and one of four teams tied for fourth place with 14 points. UVA is coming off a 1-1 draw at Louisville on Saturday, which came after a 2-1 loss at then-No. 3 Stanford on October 12. Virginia is winless in its last three games after an 11-game unbeaten streak to begin the season. Against top-25 opponents, the Cavaliers are 2-1-1, with wins over No. 9 Penn State and No. 2 Duke in back-to-back contests in early September.
 
In this week’s United Soccer Coaches poll, the Cavaliers are third, while they are sixth in the Top Drawer Soccer rankings. The team is No. 2 in both the RPI and the NCAA Committee’s inaugural Top-16, announced on October 12.
 
The Cavaliers have scored 29 goals with 25 assists on 237 shots, 110 on goal. They have allowed eight goals with 48 saves for a .857 save percentage and a 0.57 goals-against average. Lia Godfrey leads the team with eight goals, four assists and 20 points, while Maggie Cagle is second with seven goals and 17 points and tied for No. 2 with three assists. In goal, Victoria Safradin has played in every minute of all but one game and has a 0.62 goals-against average with 45 saves for a .849 save percentage in 1,170 minutes.
 
LAST TIME OUT: HUDSON NOTCHES BRACE IN DRAW
Florida State played to a 2-2 draw against Cal on Sunday afternoon in Tallahassee. The Seminoles halted a two-game losing streak thanks to a pair of goals from Hudson, who registered her third career brace and second of 2025. The Golden Bears extended their unbeaten streak to four with the result. Sunday’s matchup was the third in a row for FSU against a team in the top three in the ACC standings entering the matchup.
 
Hudson’s two goals give her a team-best 10 on the season to eclipse the nine she scored in her inaugural 2024 campaign. Junior defender Mimi Van Zanten had a career-best two assists, her third and fourth of the year to tie her career high set as a freshman in 2023. Dudley also notched an assist on Hudson’s second goal.
 
Florida State out-shot Cal 20-5 with an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal. The home side earned 12 corner kicks to the visitor’s two. Four FSU players had three shots, including Hudson and Dudley, who notched three and two shots on goal, respectively. Freshman goalkeeper Kate Ockene made one save and Cal’s goalkeeper stopped six shots.

Florida State returns home for its final regular-season home game on Thursday, October 30, against RV Wake Forest. Kickoff at the Seminole Soccer Complex is at 6 p.m. ET on the ACC Network, and the team will honor its six seniors prior to the game.
 
NOLES AT THE WORLD CUP
Freshman goalkeeper Evan O’Steen and freshman forward Nyanya Touray are representing FSU and the United States at the 2025 U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco from October 17-November 8. O’Steen and Touray are two of the 21 players selected to the U.S. U-17 National Team. They both have started the first two games to lead Team USA to a 2-0 record and a berth in the Round of 16. Touray scored one goal in a 3-0 win over Ecuador on October 18 and she recorded a brace in the American’s 5-2 victory over China PR on October 21. The team finishes Group C play against Norway on October 24 at 9 a.m. ET. The top two teams from each group, plus the four best third-place teams, advance out of the 24-team group stage into the Round of 16.
 
PAINT IT PINK
The October 16 contest was the team’s annual Paint it Pink match, where the Seminoles wore special pink uniforms that are being auctioned off, with proceeds going to the Walker Breast Program at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare in support of breast cancer patients. Fans can bid on the jerseys here until 11:59 p.m. ET on Thursday, October 30.
