Leanne Wong Among Top 30 for NCAA Woman of the Year

Last Updated: October 22, 2025By

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Leanne Wong, who finished her University of Florida gymnastics career last April, has been named one of the Top 30 honorees for the prestigious NCAA Woman of the Year award, recognizing her outstanding achievements in academics, athletics, leadership and community service.

The announcement comes just one day before Wong is set to compete in the FIG World Championships all-around final in Jakarta, Indonesia. Established in 1991, the NCAA Woman of the Year program celebrates the accomplishments of graduating female student-athletes from all three divisions. This year’s Top 30 includes 10 student-athletes from each NCAA division.

A standout both collegiately and internationally, Wong is one of just 15 gymnasts in NCAA history to complete a Gym Slam—earning a perfect 10.0 on all four events. A decorated member of Team USA, she has earned medals at the past three World Championships, including back-to-back team golds in 2022 and 2023, and served as a replacement athlete for the U.S. Olympic teams in both 2020 and 2024.

Wong becomes only the third Gator to reach the NCAA Woman of the Year finalist stage. She joins former finalists Erin Baxter (soccer, 1999) and Sarah Lowe (basketball, 2006) in this elite group.

The NCAA Woman of the Year selection committee will announce the 2025 recipient on Wednesday, Nov. 5. The honoree will be recognized at an awards presentation during the NCAA Convention in January in National Harbor, Md.
