Recapping the ITA Southeast Regionals

Lake Nona, Fla. – The five Gators time at the ITA Southeast Regionals comes to a close with Xinyi Nong making it to singles quarterfinals and the doubles duo of Nikola Daubnerova and Nong surrendering in the tournament’s semifinals.

The tournament was hosted by the University of Central Florida at the USTA National Campus, which is the site for the NCAA DI National Championships.

The five Gators who made the trip to regionals include Nong, Daubnerova, Valery Gynina, Lucie Pawlak and Gabia Paskauskas. Nong made it all the way to quarterfinals before falling to No. 92 Anastasiia Gureva of Georgia in two sets. Nong’s singles run was highlighted with a three-set win over the No. 16 ranked singles player Scarlett Nicholson from Georgia Tech in the round of 32. Daubnerova and Paskauskas each made it to the round of 16, while Gynina and Pawlak did not make it past the round of 64 where they both went to three sets for their matches.

Gynina and Pawlak did win their consolation round matches against opponents from the University of North Florida and Georgia Southern University.

Two doubles teams competed along with the singles. The duo of Nong and Daubnerova reached the tournament’s semifinals before falling to Gureva and Aysegul Mert of Georgia in a three-set contest. The team of Gynina and Pawlak did not make it past the round of 32 being defeated by Jade Psonka and Marina Gatell of the University of Central Florida.

The Gators travel to Baton Rouge, La. from Nov. 6-9, 2025 for the ITA Sectional Championships to try compete for a spot in the NCAA tournament.
