Walton – Okaloosa Counties Construction Traffic Advisory
Walton County – October 17, 2025 – Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Okaloosa and Walton counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities. All activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
Walton County:
• U.S. 331 Resurfacing from south of I-10 to U.S. 90 – Next week, drivers will encounter the following construction-related traffic impacts:
Intermittent and alternating lane closures on U.S. 331, from Coy Burgess Road to U.S. 90, and from 18th Street to 11th Street on U.S. 90, Sunday, Oct. 19 through Thursday, Oct. 23, between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. for paving operations.
The U.S. 331 northbound outside right-turn lane is temporarily closed at the U.S. 90 intersection. One U.S. 331 northbound left-turn lane, and one lane for both left- and right-turn movements, are available to access U.S. 90.
The U.S. 90 westbound outside travel lane is temporarily closed, between 11th Street and U.S. 331. One U.S. 90 westbound travel lane and one left-turn lane to access U.S. 331 remain open.
• U.S. 98 Intersection Improvements at U.S. 331 – Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures Sunday, Oct. 19 through Thursday, Oct. 23 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving operations.
• Baldwin Avenue Routine Bridge Maintenance over U.S. 331 – Motorists will encounter intermittent east and westbound lane closures south of U.S. 90 Friday, Oct. 24 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for routine bridge maintenance.
Okaloosa County:
• Brooks Bridge Replacement Project – Next week, drivers may encounter the following construction-related traffic disruptions:
Alternating lane closures on U.S. 98, from Ferry Road to Pier Road, and on Santa Rosa Boulevard, from east of Amberjack Drive to Ross Marler Park, Sunday, Oct. 19 through Thursday, Oct. 23, from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for construction activities.
The roadway west of the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Convention Center is closed. The closure extends from U.S. 98 to just north of the roundabout, including a partial roundabout closure. This closure is expected to remain in effect through mid-2026 as crews construct the westbound bridge structure and approach. Access to the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Convention Center will remain open via Pier Road. Drivers can reach properties north of U.S. 98, including Marler Park and the boat launch, via Santa Rosa Boulevard. U.S. 98 eastbound drivers will detour via the newly constructed East Connection to access Santa Rosa Boulevard. Detour signage is in place to direct drivers through the work zone.
• State Road (S.R.) 85 Improvements from S.R. 123 to Hospital Drive – Next week, drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures at the following locations and times:
S.R. 85 northbound, from Shoal River Bridge to I-10, Sunday, Oct. 19 through Thursday, Oct. 23 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
S.R. 85 southbound, from I-10 to Shoal River Bridge, Sunday, Oct. 19 through Thursday, Oct. 23 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• Interstate 10 (I-10) Resurfacing East of Shoal River Bridge to West of S.R. 285 – Motorists will encounter intermittent daytime westbound lane closures between mile markers 59 and 70 Monday, Oct. 20 through Thursday, Oct. 23 from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. for paving operations.
• I-10 Eastbound Rest Area and Truck Parking Improvement Project – Beginning Monday, Oct. 20, the truck parking area at the I-10 eastbound rest area at mile marker 59 will be temporarily closed for a 120-day period. During construction, passenger vehicle parking and rest area facilities will remain open.
• S.R. 293 Routine Bridge Inspection over Deer Moss Creek – Motorists will encounter intermittent north and southbound lane closures east of S.R. 285 Tuesday, Oct. 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for routine bridge inspection.
• S.R. 293 Routine Bridge Inspection over Foxhead Branch – Motorists will encounter intermittent north and southbound lane closures south of S.R. 85 Tuesday, Oct. 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for routine bridge inspection.
• S.R. 293 Routine Bridge Inspection over Rocky Creek – Motorists will encounter intermittent north and southbound lane closures north of S.R. 20 Wednesday, Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for routine bridge inspection.
