No. 17 Alabama Remains in Third after Two Rounds of the Fallen Oak Collegiate

SAUCIER, Miss. – The No. 17 Alabama men’s golf team carded a 7-under par 281 in Sunday’s second round of play at the Fallen Oak Collegiate to remain in third place overall after 36 holes play with a team total of 16-under par 560 (279-281). 

William Jennings continues to lead the way individually as he is in second overall with a 36-hole total of 8-under par 136 (67-69). Jennings, the Ben Hogan Award Golfer of the Month for September, was one of four UA golfers to shoot below par on moving day. Luke Powell (-2), Brycen Jones (-2) and Jack Mitchell (-2), who is competing as an individual, all collected sub-par rounds on Monday.

Tournament action will conclude Monday on the par 72, 7,487-yard Tom Fazio-designed Fallen Oak Golf Course. 

Round Two Individual Highlights

  • All five UA golfers are among the top 25 individuals after two rounds of play
  • William Jennings collected his team-leading fifth round in the 60s with Monday’s 3-under par 69 – his ninth sub-par round in 11 rounds play this season
  • Jennings is one of three golfers who are tied for second overall, all three of which sit two stroks back of clubhouse leader Matthew Dodd-Berry of LSU (-10)
  • Jonathan Griz (70-72) and Luke Powell (72-70) are tied for 20th at 2-under 142
  • Connor Brown (70-73) and Brycen Jones (73-70) are tied for 25th at 1-under 143
  • Jack Mitchell, who is competing as an individual, is in a tie for 16th overall at 3-under par 141 (71-70)

Team Highlights

  • No. 10 LSU (-27) continues to hold a big lead on the field, and will enter Monday’s third and final round with an eight-stroke edge on No. 23 Arkansas (-19)
  • Alabama (-16) is four shots ahead of tournament host and No. 4-ranked Ole Miss (-12) and No. 8 Illinois (-12), who are tied for fourth to round out the top five teams
