SAUCIER, Miss. – William Jennings continued his hot play by carding a 5-under par 67 to lead the No. 17 Alabama men’s golf team in the opening round of the Fallen Oak Collegiate on Saturday. As a team, the Crimson Tide is in third overall at 9-under par 279.Second round action will continue Sunday on the par 72, 7,487-yard Tom Fazio-designed Fallen Oak Golf Course.

Round One Highlights

  • William Jennings collected his fourth round in the 60s, tying teammate Brycen Jones for the team lead in the category
  • Jennings, who has two first-place finishes in three events on the year, will enter second round action just a stroke behind clubhouse leader Gunnlaugur Arni Sveinsson of LSU (-6)
  • Connor Brown and Jonathan Griz are tied for 15th overall at 2-under par 70
  • Jack Mitchell is in a tie for 20th overall at 1-under par 71, giving the Tide four golfers below par and among the top 20
  • Luke Powell carded an even par 72 to end the day in a tie for 26th, while Brycen Jones rounds out the Tide starting five in 42nd overall with a 1-over par 73

  • No. 10 LSU (-15) leads tournament host and No. 4-ranked Ole Miss (-10) by five strokes after 18 holes played
  • No. 26 Georgia (-7) is in fourth while No. 23 Arkansas (-6) rounds out the top five teams
