AUBURN, Ala. – The Crimson Tide’s Kristina Paskauskas claimed the ITA Southern Regional Singles title on Friday which concluded the Alabama women’s team’s outing in the week-long tournament.

Paskauskas and co-champion Ashton Bowers of Auburn both punched their tickets to the NCAA Singles Championships in November after defeating their semifinals opponents.

The London, England, native squared off against fourth-seed Emily Welker (Ole Miss) in the singles semifinals after winning her previous five matches in straight sets. Paskauskas would continue her streak en route to claiming the event’s title after defeating Welker in two sets, 6-2, 6-4.

UA teammate Zara Larke played alongside the junior and reached the singles quarterfinals, while two of Alabama’s doubles pairings – Paskauskas and Larke and Amina Salibayeva and Addison Bowman – advanced to the quarterfinals.

“We are very proud of Kristina, it is well-deserved. She has put in the effort since the first day she stepped on campus, and I am thrilled that all the hours she invested are paying off. I am excited to see her compete in the NCAA championships. Roll Tide!”
