Jennings named the Ben Hogan Award’s September Golfer of the Month
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama men’s golfer William Jennings has been named the Ben Hogan Award’s September Golfer of the Month, the organization announced Friday. Jennings, a sophomore from Greenville, S.C., becomes the first Crimson Tide golfer to receive this honor in the award’s two-plus years of its existence.
The September honor also places Jennings on the radar for the 2026 Ben Hogan Award presented by Baird, which celebrates the most outstanding collegiate golfer considering all competition during the 2025-26 season.
William Jennings, Ben Hogan Award’s September Golfer of the Month
- Had a stellar month in leading the No. 17 Alabama men’s golf team across three tournaments, including a team title at the season-opening Folds of Honor Collegiate
- Jennings led the Tide to the championship by winning medalist honor at the event, finishing at six-under par (207)
- He capped the month when he tied for first overall (lost medalist honors in a playoff) at 1-under par (209) at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational
- He finished that event as one of only five golfers in the 75-man field to finish the tournament below par
- Earned the SEC Golfer of the Week following his performance at the Ben Hogan Collegiate
- Jennings also earned a 39th-place finish at the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational
- As a true freshman last year, Jennings played in just four total rounds, but leads the team in average vs. par (+0.11) total rounds in the 60s (3) and rounds of par or lower (6), while ranking second in scoring average (70.44)
