Rebimbas Named SEC Offensive Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –– Alabama’s Melina Rebimbas picked up her first Southeastern Conference weekly honor after being named the league’s Offensive Player of the Week for her performance in the Crimson Tide’s 4-3 victory over Auburn on Friday (10/10).

Rebimbas tallied two goals and an assist for a career-high five points in the match. Her first goal gave the Tide a 2-1 advantage, but after Auburn scored back-to-back goals to start the second half, Rebimbas netted the tying shot in the 82nd minute. She would go on to help the Tide claim the victory, threading a pass through the Tiger’s defense for Gianna Paul to score the game winner in the 86th minute.

  • Rebimbas paced the Iron Bowl of Soccer in points, coming off the bench to score two goals and tally an assist
  • She led both Alabama and Auburn in total shots with eight in the game, while only playing 56 minutes
  • Additionally, both Rebimbas and Gianna Paul had a game-leading three shots on goal in the match
  • In addition to Rebimbas tallying a career-high five points, the performance marked her first collegiate brace
  • The goals were her second and third of the season, while her assist moved her to a team-leading six on the year
  • Her six assists place her third in the category against SEC opponents and fifth in the SEC for assists per game (0.40)
