Low Round of Tournament earns Gators T3 finish, Turner places runner-up
For the second consecutive day Florida shot under par as a team with a 2-under final round to move up two spots and end six shots back of team champion Clemson (+20). UF was the only school to own two rounds of under par (-1, -2).
Turner tied for the low individual round with a 68 (-4) to produce a 54-hole score of 215 (-1) and finish just one shot back of medalist Tyler Kowack of San Diego State. Turner collects his third career runner-up finish, which ties his career-best as his last 2nd place outing was at the 2024 SEC Championship his freshman season. He kept his play to one bogey on the final round and has finishes this fall of T20 and T17.
The only other player to have a 68 (-4) was from freshman Parker Severs. Making his collegiate debut, he placed T10 (+6). The Lakewood Ranch, Fla. native was competing as an individual this week and also was third in birdies made at 14.
Parker Bell (+5) had the second-best finish in the lineup for a season-best T8 performance, marking his best finish since the NCAA West Lafayette Regional in 2024, also a T8. The senior tied for low in par3 scoring at 2.92 and led in pars with 40.
Another Gator making his debut this week was transfer Noah Kent, who was playing as an individual. He placed T15 (+7) and had a final round of 72 (E). It was his first tournament since the fall of last year. Kent had an average of 4.58 on par5s, tied for tournament low with Turner.
The second UF golfer playing in his collegiate debut was Trevor Gutschewski (+11). Playing in the lineup, he tied for 27th and was followed by Matthew Kress (+12), who a final round of 71 (-1) and finished T30. Rounding out the lineup was Luke Poulter (+18) in T55.
Two more fall tournaments remain with the Williams Cup (Oct. 19-21) and the East Lake Cup (Oct. 27-29).
