Lagway Earns Nod From Two Awards After Week 6
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Following the Gators performance against No. 9 Texas, quarterback DJ Lagway has been named to the Davey O’Brien Award’s Great Eight list for Week Six, as well as receiving an honorable mention by the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award.
The Davey O’Brien Award is presented to the college football quarterback that exhibits the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership and skill both on and off the field, which were exemplified by the awards namesake. The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award honors the best player who either plays Division I college football in the state of Texas or attended high school in the state of Texas
Lagway’s performance against Texas helped propel the team to their first ranked win of the season and the first win over Texas in program history. Lagway threw 21 completed passes on 28 attempts, which resulted in 298 receiving yards (long 60 yards) and two touchdowns against the Longhorns.
Prior to the season’s start, Lagway was named to both awards’ preseason watch list. However, with this nomination to be a member of the Great Eight for Week Six, this secures a position for Lagway in the Davey O’Brien Award’s Midseason Watch List.
