Alabama Downs Missouri in 3-0 Road Win
COLUMBIA, Mo. –– The Alabama soccer team (9-4-1, 3-3-0 SEC) captured a trio of goals to secure a 3-0 victory over Missouri (4-8-1, 1-5-0 SEC) on Sunday.
Alabama saw a fast start, scoring two goals in the opening seven minutes of the game from Larkin Thomason (4:54) and Cameron Silva (6:03). Additionally, Thomason and Melina Rebimbas would force an own goal by the Tigers in the 87th minute.
“Great way to bounce back after a couple of tough losses. Really happy with how we started the game. We came out flying and built an early lead. I felt we did a good job of continuing to be the aggressor and not just trying to sit on the lead and hang on.”
How It Happened
- Kiley Kukan sprinted down the right side of the field to retrieve a ball rolling towards the endline, before finding Larkin Thomason running into the box
- Thomason took a touch before sliding her shot past Missouri’s goalkeeper in the opening five minutes of action
- Just over a minute later, Cameron Silva took advantage of an uncleared ball by the Tigers, firing through the crowd into the lower left corner
- UA’s final goal came in the 87th minute as Thomason fought to find Melina Rebimbas in the box
- A Missouri defender would accidently kick the ball into the back of the net off the foot of Rebimbas
- Alabama controlled the game, pacing the Tigers 11-6 in shots
- Madi Munguia tallied five saves in the game for her third clean sheet
