Bulldogs Travel to Tallahassee for FSU Invite
The Bulldogs had a three-week break after an impressive pair of season-opening performances at the Covered Bridge Invite on Aug. 29. The first place (15 points) finish by the men and second place (47 points) finish by the women proved as the best pair of season opening performances since 2017 at the WCU Festival.
Last meet the men’s team locked down all top-six spots, graduate transfer Matias Reynaga made his Bulldogs debut with career best showing of 18:00.0 to take first in the 6K. Juniors Conner Rutherford and Ryan Olree also crossed the finish line at 18:00.0 to take second and third for Georgia.
All three Bulldog men will be set to compete alongside graduate transfers Oliver Smart, Will Aitken and freshman Kristers Kudlis.
On the women’s side, Izzy Yonas led the way, clocking a 30-second career-best performance. Her fourth-place finish helped the Bulldogs to the best finish in a season opener since the 2019 Dog Invite.
Making their Georgia debut this weekend in the women’s 6K are freshmen Madeleine Holland and Maeve Waddell.
Other Lady Bulldogs competing this weekend are freshmen Anastasia Nilsson, Lauren Skeens, Addison Scott and Elise Wooddell.
“While we have already run once, I am excited to see how this group will do in what I would call a second opener, said Tribble. I feel like we have made more progress over this last month of training and both teams are excited to hit the course. With only three regular season meets, we’re aiming to make the best out of each one”.
Competition will begin at 7:40 a.m. ET on Friday morning with the women’s 8K race, followed by the women’s 6K race at 8:20 a.m.ET.
