BATON ROUGE, La. –– With a pair of goals, Nadia Ramadan led the Alabama soccer team (7-2-1, 1-1-0 SEC) to a 2-1 road win over Southeastern Conference foe LSU (5-4-1, 0-1-1 SEC) on Thursday.

Ramadan highlighted the night with an Olympico goal, scoring near post while taking a corner kick in the 42nd minute before netting the game-winning shot in the 83rd minute.

From Head Coach Wes Hart

“Great performance tonight versus a very good LSU side. We showed a lot of grit and fight tonight. Awesome response after giving up the equalizer to come back and score the game winner late, and then [have] some incredible defensive plays in the box to close the game out.”

How It Happened

  • Ramadan broke through an evenly paced first half, bending a corner kick in the 42nd minute towards the near post and past LSU’s Audur Scheving
  • The Crimson Tide held the Tigers off the scoreboard until the 66th minute when Sariyah Bailey fired a shot that hit off the crossbar and bounced past the goal line
  • Ramadan would again find the answer for Alabama, sending a cleared cross by Gianna Paul through traffic and into the back of the net
  • Alabama and LSU would finish the match tied 12-12 in shots with both teams tallying four shots in the first half and eight shots in the second
  • The Tide would have more quality chances as the team placed five shots on frame, forcing Scheving to come up with three saves
  • Ramadan now has four goals and 11 points on the year, ranking second on the team in both categories
  • The win marked the Tide’s fourth consecutive victory against the Tigers

Next

  • Alabama will host Texas as a conference foe for the first time in series history and just the third time overall with the last meeting in Tuscaloosa occurring during the 1999 season
  • The Tide and Longhorns will go head-to-head at 1 p.m. CT on Sunday with the game being streamed on SEC Network+
