No.9 Noles Set to Face Loaded Field at Fighting Illini Invitational

TALLAHASSEE –  The Florida State men’s golf team will head north to compete in Olympia Fields Fighting Illini Invitational hosted by the University of Illinois at the Olympia Fields Country Club Sept. 19-21.
 
Among the 15 teams competing, 11 are ranked or received votes in the preseason Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll that was released on Aug. 29.  The field also includes five top 10 teams, including the ninth-ranked Seminoles.
 
Florida State opened the 2025-26 season at the Folds of Honor Collegiate that ran from Sept. 8-10 at the American Dunes Golf Club in Grand Haven, Michigan. The Noles were led by Carson Brewer, who finished 16th at 3-over, 216. Jack Bigham followed, finishing tied for 21st at 5-over, 218.
 
Tyler Weaver returns to the lineup after competing in the 50th Walker Cup for Team Great Britain and Ireland on Sept. 6-7. Weaver will start his junior season currently ranked 10th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, followed by Bigham at No. 67.
 
In addition to Weaver, Brewer and Bigham, Wilmer Edero, Jack Whaley and Patrick McCann will be competing. The first tee times are scheduled for 9 a.m. ET on Friday, and live scoring will run through Golfstat.
