Halfway Recap: Where Gators Have Placed in 2025 World Athletics Championships
Team USA has claimed a total of eight medals, the most thus far of each country represented at the 2025 championships. Of the eight, two medals have been claimed by former Gators, Jenoah McKiver and Grace Stark. McKiver helped lead Team USA to a gold medal in the 4x400m mixed relay with the fastest split of the race at 43.91 seconds in the third leg. Stark’s 100m hurdle performance earned her a bronze medal, with a 12.34 mark on the track.
Four other Gators have completed their championship run. Gator alum Claire Bryant took home a fifth-place finish in the women’s long jump, with a 6.68m leap, equivalent to 21.91 ft. In throws, Alida van Daalen claimed 11th in the women’s discus with a 62.24m mark, as Thomas Mardal marched his way to sixth in the men’s hammer throw with a distance of 78.02m. Three-time reigning champion, Grant Holloway, ended his championship run in the 110m hurdles after finishing sixth in his semifinal with a time of 13.52 seconds.
The following five days will feature 12 more Gators in various events, as they each look to claim a medal for their respective country.
