Gators in the NFL: Week 2

Last Updated: September 16, 2025By

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – It is only Week 2 of the 2025 NFL season, and former Gators are already cementing themselves among some of the league’s best, including a pair of rookies.

Each week of the 2025-26 season, FloridaGators.com will cover all of the best moments from the NFL stars who made a name for themselves in Gainesville.

Offense

Chimere Dike
True gadget guys are hard to find these days, but Tennessee’s rookie Chimere Dike is certainly making a case to be one of the best. In two games for the Titans, Dike has caught passes, run the rock and served as their primary kick and punt returner.

Dike tabbed 128 all-purpose yards on Sunday, split between one carry (nine yards), five kick returns (83 yards) and two punt returns (37 yards). The rookie is second behind only Colts’ superstar Jonathan Taylor in all-purpose yards this season with 293.

Ricky Pearsall

Through two weeks, Pearsall has firmly established himself as a WR1 in the league. The second-year wideout is top 15 in receiving yards (164 – 11th), receiving grade (74.5 – 12th) and catch percentage (80% – 11th).

Pearsall also leads the league in yards per reception with a whopping 20.5 figure. Perhaps the most important stat for the former first-round pick is his percentage share of team’s air yards, 45.59%, which is seventh among qualified receivers.  (TAY% is an NFL Next Gen Statistic that represents how much of a team’s deep yards the player accounts for by looking at total intended air yards. For more information, see here.)

Defense

Jonathan Greenard
A pass-rushing machine, Greenard is picking up right where he left off last season. Through two games, Greenard ranks third in the league with 12 QB pressures and 10th in pass rush win rate. The Hiram, Ga. native was a bright spot in Minnesota’s Sunday Night Football loss, totaling four tackles, five pressures and a sack.

Special Teams

Jeremy Crawshaw
Crawshaw has been dialed through two weeks, putting together another great punting performance on Sunday. The Aussie dropped all three of his punts inside the 20, including a 50-yard punt to the opposing 14-yard line. He also averaged 4.54 seconds of hangtime, resulting in his punts only being returned for four yards.

The rookie leads all NFL punters this season with six punts inside the 20 and is seventh in punting grade (70.4) per Pro Football Focus.

Eddy Piñeiro
Five days after signing with the 49ers, Piñeiro did what some 49ers fans were deeming impossible, making both of his field goal attempts. The veteran kicker hit two crucial FGs from 44 and 46 yards to help San Francisco beat the Saints by five.
