Florida finishes runner up in second fall outing

Five Gators in the top-21 as Florida has started off the season with second and third place performances. 

TOLEDO, Ohio – The No. 10 Florida women’s golf team collected a runner-up finish at the Inverness Intercollegiate with five Gators placing in the top-21 on Tuesday. 

UF led by two-shots entering the final 18-holes this morning and battled with No. 18 Ohio State as the Buckeyes edged the Gators out by three shots for the team title. Florida cut the lead to one-shot between 13-16 holes completed, but OSU’s 2-under final nine held off Florida. 

Sophomore Addison Klonowski tied for the second-lowest round of the week with a 69 (-2) behind a bogey-free back nine and a 3-under bogey-free stretch across her last 11 holes. She finished tied for 7th, marking her 12th career top-25 in 13 total tournaments. 

Also tied for 7th was Megan Propeck as both have both finished T7 and T17 through the first two tournaments this fall. Just one shot back of the duo was junior Paula Francisco in T12. 

The second Gator to shoot even or better in the final round was Siuue Wu, who was making her season debut as an individual. The sophomore also had a 3-under bogey-free back nine and finished tied for 16th.

Shooting their best rounds of the week was Katelyn Huber with a 73 (+2) to place T21 and Inès Archer a 74 (+4) in T30. Huber has finished T21 and 4th in first career tournaments. 

Florida returns to action in October (6-7) at OU Intercollegiate at Prairie Dunes Country Club.
