Football’s Hubbard Named SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama’s Bray Hubbard was named Southeastern Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday morning.

Hubbard shared defensive player of the week honors following a standout performance in Alabama’s 38-14 win over Wisconsin on Sept. 13. The weekly honor is the first for the junior safety and the first for the Crimson Tide this season.

Bray Hubbard

  • Played a key role on an Alabama defense that allowed only one offensive score and just 209 yards of total offense
  • The Tide limited Wisconsin to 117 yards passing and 92 rushing in the game
  • Picked off two passes in the game for a combined eight return yards
  • Added five total tackles on the day, setting the tone for the defense with each hit he delivered
  • In coverage, Hubbard allowed just one catch on five targets, earning a 92.0 overall grade according to Pro Football Focus, the sixth-highest grade among all defenders in Week 3
  • Also named the Panini Senior Bowl Defensive Player of the Week for his play against the Badgers
