SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The No. 7 Florida State soccer team extended its season-opening unbeaten streak to seven with a 4-0 victory at Syracuse on Sunday afternoon at SU Soccer Stadium.

The Seminoles (6-0-1, 2-0-0 ACC) registered their sixth shutout in seven games this season, with multi-goal victories in all six wins. For the second consecutive game, FSU halted an unbeaten streak of at least six games by its opponent, as the Orange (4-2-4, 0-1-1) saw their seven-game unbeaten streak come to an end and were shut out for just the third time in 2025.

Sophomore forward Wrianna Hudson scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season and her fifth in the last four games, a score that made it 3-0 in the 61st minute. Fellow sophomore forward Solai Washington netted her first goal of the year with the eventual game-winner in the 43rd minute. Freshman defender Mya Brandon got her first career goal in the 53rd minute. Florida State’s fourth goal was an own-goal in the 66th minute. Senior forward/midfielder Enasia Colon and junior forward Jordynn Dudley both picked up a pair of assists.

In goal, a pair of freshmen each played 45 minutes. Evan O’Steen got the start and made one save in the first half, while Kate Ockene played the second half and did not face a shot on target. Hudson had a game-high two shots on goal. Two Seminoles, junior midfielder Yuna McCormack and freshman forward Nyanya Touray, both had a game-best three shots.

The defense held Syracuse to four total shots, two in each half, with just the one shot on goal. FSU registered 21 shots, eight on target. Corner kicks were 4-2 in favor of the visitors.

With the win, the Seminoles remain unbeaten all-time against Syracuse, and are now 8-0-1 against the Orange, including 7-0-1 as ACC foes and 5-0-1 on the road.

A total of 22 FSU players saw action in the Sunday afternoon affair. Everyone played at least 21 minutes, with all but one on the field for at least 35 minutes. No one played more than 63 minutes.

Hudson had a chance in the 15th minute off a nice cross, but her shot from the top of the goal box was saved. Fifth-year midfielder Marianyela Jiménez sent a ball over the crossbar 10 minutes later, and Touray had an opportunity go just wide in the 32nd minute.

O’Steen’s first career save came in the 34th minute, on a header from inside the six that she corralled cleanly.

Washington put the Seminoles ahead 1-0 at 42:43. Jiménez and redshirt sophomore midfielder Peyton Nourse were credited with assists, as Jiménez sent the ball up into the 18-yard box to Nourse, who quickly delivered a back-heeled pass to Washington. The quick passes found Washington 14 yards out on the right side, and she fired the ball to the far post on the ground past a diving keeper.

It was Washington’s first goal of 2025 and seventh of her career. Nourse got her second assist and Jiménez collected her fourth, both all coming in 2025.

The visitors had an 11-2 advantage in shots and a 4-1 edge in shots on goal in the opening half, though Syracuse earned two corners to Florida State’s one.

Brandon quickly made it 2-0 early in the second half at 52:56. On the near side between the touchline and the penalty box, Dudley dribbled around an SU defense and passed to Colon, who quickly sent a perfectly-placed cross towards the far post. Brandon was there at the corner of the six-yard box and headed it in for her first career goal.

Less than eight minutes later, at 60:01, Hudson made it 3-0. Again it was Dudley to Colon to set up the goal, but this time the set-up came from the middle of the field, where Dudley passed to Colon inside the penalty area near the endline. Like the previous goal, it was a great cross to the far post from Colon, and Hudson finished with her left foot near the post.

Hudson’s goal was her seventh of the campaign and 16th of her career. Dudley’s two assists give her five in 2025 and 25 in her career, while Colon’s now has four this season and 20 in her career.

The fourth and final goal for the Seminoles was an own goal at 65:26.

FSU out-shot SU 10-2 in the second half, with a 3-0 advantage in shots on goal. The Seminoles had three corners while not allowing the home side to earn one.

In a top-25 matchup between the last two national champions, No. 7 FSU continues its roadtrip at No. 19 North Carolina on Wednesday, September 17. Kickoff in Chapel Hill is at 7 p.m. ET in a nationally-televised contest on ACC Network.
