Roadtrip Commences Sunday at Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The No. 7 Florida State soccer team begins a three-game roadtrip at Syracuse on Sunday, September 14, in Syracuse, New York.
 
Kickoff at SU Soccer Stadium is set for 1 p.m. ET.

Florida State is 5-0-1 on the season and 1-0-0 in the ACC after a 2-0 win against Louisville on Thursday night in Tallahassee. The Seminoles are 4-0-0 at home and 1-0-1 on the road. FSU has shut out its opponent in five of six games, with multi-goal victories in each contest. Unbeaten in its last seven matches, Syracuse is 4-1-4 and 0-0-1 in ACC play after a 1-1 draw to SMU.
 
Florida State has scored 22 goals with 21 assists on 110 shots and 47 shots on goal. In six games, the team has allowed one goal on 29 shots, 10 on target, with nine saves, a 0.17 goals-against average and a .900 save percentage.
 
Sophomore forward Wrianna Hudson leads the team with six goals, 12 points, 19 shots and 11 shots on goal. Senior defender Heather Gilchrist and junior midfielder Yuna McCormack are second with three goals, while fifth-year midfielder Marianyela Jiménez and junior forward Jordynn Dudley share the team lead with three assists. In goal, redshirt sophomore Addie Todd has eight saves in her five appearances for a .889 save percentage and a 0.23 goals-against average.
 
In the national rankings, FSU is No. 3 in the country in goals (3.67) and points per game (10.83), No. 5 in goal differential (+21), assists per game (3.50) and goals-against average (0.170), No. 6 in shutout percentage (.833), No. 15 in save percentage (.900) and No. 22 in shots per game (18.33).
 
SERIES HISTORY VS. SYRACUSE
Florida State is 7-0-1 all-time against Syracuse and 6-0-1 as ACC foes. FSU is 3-0-0 at home, 4-0-1 on the road and 1-0-0 at a neutral site. This will be the third consecutive meeting, with a 3-2 victory in Syracuse in 2023 before a 5-1 triumph in Tallahassee in 2024. The series’ first meeting came in 1998, a 3-2 win in Athens, Georgia. As ACC opponents, the series kicked off with a 1-0 victory in overtime in 2013, the first of four clean sheets for the Seminoles.
 
A year ago, on September 19, 2024, Kameron Simmonds and Taylor Huff both notched braces and Hudson scored the opening goal in a 5-1 win at the Seminole Soccer Complex. FSU led 2-0 after 15 minutes and added two more six minutes into the second half. In the 2023 contest, Jordynn Dudley assisted on a game-tying goal in the seventh minute, and Florida State rallied to tie the game again in the 58th minute before netting the winner in the 84th for the 3-2, comeback victory.
 
SCOUTING THE ORANGE
Syracuse is 4-1-4 in 2025, 3-1-2 at home and 1-0-2 on the road. The Orange are 0-0-1 in ACC play following a 1-1 draw at home to SMU on Thursday night. Both goals came in an eight-minute span late in the first half. Syracuse is unbeaten in its last seven games, with three wins and four ties. The team’s lone loss came in the second game of the season, a 2-1 defeat to Niagara.
 
SU has scored 18 goals with 12 assists on 130 shots, 70 on goal. The Orange have allowed five goals with 37 saves for a 0.56 goals-against average and a .881 save percentage. Mia Klammer leads the team with five goals, 12 points, 27 shots and 14 shots on goal. Ashley Rauch is one of two with three assists and is second with four goals and 11 points. In goal, Shea Vanderbosch has started all nine games and has a 0.59 goals-against average with 35 saves for a 0.875 save percentage.
 
LAST TIME OUT: ACC-OPENING SHUTOUT
FSU shut out Louisville 2-0 on Thursday night in the ACC opener in Tallahassee. The Seminoles held UofL to one shot on goal, the fourth time in six games that FSU allowed one or fewer shots on goal and the third game in a row. The Cardinals were shut out for just the second time in 2025 and saw their four-game shutout streak and six-game win streak come to an end.
 
Hudson scored the game-winning goal with a penalty kick in the 24th minute for her team-best sixth goal of the season and fourth in the last three games. Senior midfielder Yuna McCormack netted the insurance goal in the 87th minute, her third goal of 2025.
 
FSU had 13 shots, three on goal, while UofL was held to six shots, one on target. The home side earned nine corner kicks to the visitor’s four. Junior midfielder Jordynn Dudley posted a game-high four shots and assisted on McCormack’s goal. Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Addie Todd made one save and her Cardinal counterpart also stopped one shot.
