Georgia Ready to Tee Off at Cougar Classic
ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Georgia women’s golf team will kick off their 2025-26 season at the 21st annual Cougar Classic, hosted by the College of Charleston, on Monday. The Bulldogs will tee off on Monday at 8:30 a.m. to begin 36 holes of continuous action before wrapping up play on Tuesday at the Yeamans Hall Club.
Qualifying to start the year was more competitive than ever. Our team is coming into this season opener having already had to battle adversity and pressure at home, and they’ve proven themselves capable, head coach Erika Brennan said. Yeamans Hall is such a special place, and we can’t wait to see how our games stack up in a strong field.
Four golfers will be making their debut in the Red and Black on Monday. Georgia’s lineup for this year’s Cougar Classic features four transfers – sophomores Maria Garcia and Sydney Givens, redshirt junior Karoline Tuttle and graduate Maria Eidhagen Harrouch (Sandviken, Sweden) – as well as returning junior Morgan Smith.
Of the 17 teams competing in this year’s Classic, five earned preseason rankings by Golfweek and/or the WGCA. Leading the field is LSU, earning a preseason ranking of eight by Golfweek and seven by the WGCA. Florida will be opening their season with a ranking of 12 by Golfweek and 13 by the WGCA. The Tigers of Auburn earned a ranking of 18 by the WGCA and 19 by Golfweek. Ole Miss was another team to earn preseason honors, with rankings of 20 by the WGCA and 23 by Golfweek. Lastly, NC State earned a rpeseason rank of 29 by Golfweek.
The Bulldogs’ eight-woman roster features two freshmen, two returners and four transfers. Eidhagen Harrouch will play in the No. 1 spot for Georgia in the Cougar Classic. Her fellow University of Colorado transfer Givens will also be making her debut for the Bulldogs. Returner Smith will be kicking off her junior campaign. Sophomore transfer Garcia will tee off for the Bulldogs in the three spot. Monday will also mark the first time Florida-transfer Tuttle competes for Georgia, where she helped the Gators finish runner-up in the 2025 SEC Championships.
We are super excited to play this fantastic event. The course is super fun and gettable if you make sure to play to the right spot on the greens, Maria Eidhagen Harrouch said. We have definitely prepped well for this event, and I’m enjoying every day as a Bulldog with this amazing team!
In Erika Brennan‘s second year as head coach, Georgia looks to make its first NCAA Championship appearance since 2023. The Bulldogs are kicking off their season at the Cougar Classic for the fourth-straight year. In last year’s opener, Georgia finished eighth as a team.
The Bulldogs will be paired with Auburn and Tennessee for Monday’s two rounds. Live scoring will be available at https://gado.gs/df2.
