2025 CFP Title Odds: Texas, Alabama, Clemson Slide After Week 1 Defeats
Is there anything that screams “We’re so back” more than No. 3 Ohio State knocking off No. 1 Texas?
So, where do the Longhorns stand now?
Let’s take a look ahead at the national title odds for the 2025 College Football Playoff at DraftKings Sportsbook as of Aug. 31.

Texas was tied at the top with Ohio State. After the loss, the Longhorns slid to +750 from +550 and are now fourth on the board.
However, the Longhorns weren’t the only ranked squad to go down.
No. 4 Clemson fell to No. 9 LSU, 17-10, and No. 8 Alabama was upset by unranked Florida State, 31-17.
Clemson fell to +1400 from +900 and Bama moved to +1500 from +900.

There will also be some changes heading into the next College Football Playoff when it comes to seeding, potentially making the path smoother for some of those premier programs.
In late May, the CFP committee approved a proposal in which the four highest-ranked teams would earn the top four seeds and a first-round bye, removing the previous conference champion requirement. The top five ranked conference champions will still earn playoff spots.
Last season, the top four seeds — Oregon, Georgia, Boise State and Arizona State — all received a bye and then lost in their quarterfinal matchups. Had the new format been in place, No. 1 Oregon, No. 2 Georgia, No. 3 Texas and No. 4 Penn State would have been the top four seeds and had byes.
Texas will try to become the 12th team to start and finish No. 1 since the AP preseason poll debuted in 1950. The last team to do it was Alabama in 2017.
