Muoneke Powers Georgia to Season-Opening Sweep of Samford
 
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of Georgia volleyball team swept the Samford Bulldogs, 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-20), on Friday evening behind an 18-kill match from junior Bianna Muoenke.
 
Georgia begins the 2025 season 1-0.
 
Fast Facts

  • Muoneke’s 18 kills in three sets tie for the ninth-most all-time in a three-set match at UGA. She hit a very strong .485 in the match, dished out four assists, and had three digs. She laid down eight kills in the third set alone.
  • Junior setter Kaiya Tyson not only ran an offense that hit .407 in the match, but she also put up a career-high five kills with a match-high nine digs. With 25 assists, she was one dig shy of her first career double-double.  
  • Senior Estelle Haugen tallied eight kills and eight digs in the contest. Six of her kills came in the second set on a 1.000 hitting clip.
  • Redshirt-junior Kendal Kemp tallied six blocks and four kills in her first official match as a Bulldog.
  • Georgia hit a strong .517 in the opening set, taking the frame 25-18. Muoneke and MK Patten each registered five kills in the set and hit .625 and 1.000, respectively.

Georgia is back in action on Saturday, Aug. 30, taking on the Troy Trojans. The Bulldogs and Trojans will square off at 5 p.m. ET in Birmingham to close out opening weekend.
