ATHENS, Ga. – University of Georgia women’s swimmer Elizabeth Isakson and men’s pole vaulter Alon Rogow have been named recipients of the 2025-26 Joel Eaves Scholar-Athlete Award. The pair will be honored at a home football game to be determined this fall.

The award is presented annually to the male and female student-athletes with the highest grade point average upon entering the fall of semester of his or her senior year, based on academic hour rather than eligibility.  Additionally, a student-athlete must have earned at least two varsity letters to be eligible for the award.

Eaves was the Director of Athletics at UGA from 1963-1979, and the award was established with the aim of acknowledging the contributions he made during his tenure while also highlighting the academic achievements of current student-athletes.

Elizabeth Isakson

Isakson is the ninth member of the women’s swimming and diving program who has been selected as a Joel Eaves Award winner and the second consecutive following former teammate Abby McCulloh last year.

Isakson has been a key member of the Bulldogs’ breaststroke group over three seasons in Athens. During her freshman season, the Marietta native scored in the 100-yard breaststroke at the SEC Championships and served as a relay alternate for the NCAA Championships. Last season, she competed in the breaststroke events and 200y individual medley at the SEC Championships. The Journalism major and Sport Management minor was named to the 2024 SEC Community Service Team and the 2023 CSCAA Scholar All-America First Team, along with multiple placements on SEC and UGA Athletics academic honor rolls.

Alon Rogow

Rogow is the seventh member of the men’s track and field program who has been selected as a Joel Eaves Award winner and second in the last three years.

Rogow shot to sixth in the school record books in the pole vault after clearing a collegiate best 5.30 meters/17 feet, 4 ½ inches for fifth at the 2025 Razorback Invitational.  The Dunwoody native was also fifth at last year’s Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships and competed at his first NCAA East Prelims last May.  He is a Sport Management major with a minor in Business and will be in the graduate program in the spring.
