First Round Success in Singles and Doubles Draw Set for Danilina at US Open
While at Florida, Danilina was named a four-time All-American and received SEC first team honors in 2018. Danilina will now return to the main stage, competing in the doubles category at the 2025 US Open.
McCartney Kessler secured her first US Open win, and Anna Danilina’s matchup in the doubles draw has been set at the 2025 US Open.
Kessler, who made her U.S. Open main draw debut this year, initiated her campaign with a strong performance, defeating Magda Linette 7-5, 7-5, in the first round. With the win, Kessler advanced to the Round of 64, where she battled against Marketa Vondrousova but ultimately fell short at 7-6 (7), 6-2, concluding her first singles run at the U.S. Open.
On the doubles side, Danilina, a former Florida All-American and one of the program’s most accomplished doubles players, begins her U.S. Open slate alongside partner Aleksandra Krunic. The duo was given the No. 9 seed in the tournament and will first match up against Sasa Ruzic and Bibiane Schoofs in the opening round.
The first round of women’s doubles will be played on Thursday, August 28, and Friday, August 29. Doubles matches will begin at 11 a.m. on both days, and matches will be played continuously throughout the day, with the first serve dependent on the duration of the previous match.
