Dominic Clemons Named to 2025 GB&I Walker Cup Team

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Former Alabama men’s golfer Dominic Clemons has been named to the 2025 Great Britain & Ireland Walker Cup team, as final rosters were announced Monday morning. 

This year’s event marks the 50th Walker Cup – a two-day match play event comprised of the top 20 amateur golfers in the world – is played between 10-man teams from the United States and Great Britain and Ireland (GB&I). This year’s event will take place Sept. 6-7 at Cypress Point Club in Pebble Beach, Calif.

Dominic Clemons, GB&I Walker Cup

  • Became the eighth Alabama golfer under head coach Jay Seawell to earn a spot on the prestigious team, and the 10th golfer in Seawell’s coaching career to compete in the Walker Cup (Jamie Elson and Oliver Wilson at Augusta State).
  • Nick Dunlap, who competed in the 2023 Walker Cup, was the most recent former Alabama golfer to compete at the prestigious event
  • Clemons was an automatic selection based on his World Amateur Golf Rankings (#41)
  • Competed in all 11 events (33 rounds) last season for the Crimson Tide, with 30 of his rounds (91.1 percent) counting toward the team score
  • Won medalist honors in his first career tournament at Alabama (Folds of Honor Collegiate) with a 54-hole total of 9-under par 204 
  • Became the first Alabama golfer to win in his debut tournament since freshman Justin Thomas claimed the crown at the Carpet Capital Collegiate to open the 2011-12 season 
  • As a result of winning medalist honors, he was granted an exemption into the 2025 Rocket Classic PGA TOUR event
  • Closed the season ranked third on the team in stroke average (72.42), average vs. par (+1.06), rounds of par or better (16) and total rounds in the 60s (7) 
  • Finished a perfect 2-0 in match play, winning both of his matches at the 2025 SEC Tournament Championships 
  • Named SEC Golfer of the Week (Sept. 18, 2024) following his performance that helped in leading the Tide to securing a season-opening tournament title
