GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Two Florida Gators have played themselves into spots in the 2025 Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star Game in infielder Brendan Lawson and right-handed pitcher Christian Rodriguez.
 
Both players will represent the East Division in the 34th Annual East vs. West All-Star Game, which will take place on Saturday, July 19 at 4:05 p.m. at Red Wilson Field in Yarmouth, Mass.
 
As a member of the Brewster Whitecaps, Lawson was selected as a utility infielder and will also compete in the Home Run Contest at 2:30 p.m. prior to first pitch of the All-Star Game. Meanwhile, Rodriguez’s production with the Harwich Mariners made him one of nine East Division pitchers to earn an All-Star nod.

The East and West Division rosters were collectively chosen by the 10 Cape League managers.
 
Despite joining the Whitecaps midway through the season, Lawson has quickly made an impact in his first nine games with the squad. The 2025 Freshman All-American has slashed .357/.486/.786 for a 1.272 OPS in 28 at bats. Lawson has already tallied three homers, three doubles, nine runs and four RBI while drawing more walks (seven) than strikeouts (five).

Shifting to Rodriguez, the rising redshirt sophomore made six scoreless appearances before allowing his first run of the summer in his seventh outing. Even so, he boasts a dominant 1.35 ERA and 0.90 WHIP in 13 1/3 frames to go along with one save and one hold apiece. Rodriguez has fanned 13 batters against just four walks in his seven games.
 
Rewinding one year, three Gators were named to the 2024 Cape League All-Star Game in right-hander Jake Clemente (Brewster), catcher/first baseman Brody Donay (Brewster) and second baseman Cade Kurland (Harwich).
