BIRMINGHAM, Ala.– Five student athletes from Florida are set to take part in this year’s SEC Leadership Council meetings. Laila Reynolds is among the Gators chosen to represent the University of Florida in Atlanta on July 17 and 18.

Reynolds will be joined by Florida’s AJ Brown, Hayden Hansen, Jayden Emmanuel, and Jocelyn Erickson, along with student-athletes from all 16 SEC universities.

Attendees include representatives from the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), the Football Leadership Council, and the Men’s and Women’s Basketball Leadership Councils. Warren is MSU’s SAAC representative.

The SEC Student-Athlete Leadership Council provides an opportunity for the league’s student-athletes to engage with campus leaders and conference office staff. Leadership councils for football and men’s and women’s basketball, along with SAAC, provide a conduit of communication to the conference office on issues related to student-athlete experience, student-athlete wellness, and playing rules.

Throughout the two-day event, participants will meet with SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey to discuss topics including SEC governance structure, legislation, and name, image, and likeness (NIL) opportunities. Student-athletes will also have the opportunity to speak with SEC Chief Medical Officer Catherine O’Neal to learn more about the conference’s efforts to keep athletes safe, as well as discuss sport psychology protocols. Other activities will include breakout sessions for the student-athletes’ respective leadership councils.
