The women lead the way with 17 entries, while the men tallied 12 entries. Among those are a total of 13 athletes who will compete in their first regional meet, including five freshmen.
MEET NOTES:
The four-day meet will begin on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. with the men’s long jump that will feature Curtis Williams and Kyvon Tatham. The running events will start at 6:00 p.m. Expanded coverage will air on ESPN+ and can be accessed at Seminoles.com. Live Results will be available here.
To qualify for the first round of the NCAA Championships, student-athletes must have finished the season ranked within the top 48 of their individual events or as a member of a top 24 relay team on their respective regional qualifying list (East or West), which was released by the NCAA on Thursday. The top 12 athletes in the men’s decathlon and women’s heptathlon in the East and West automatically receive entry to the national meet.
From there, the top 12 finishers in each event at each regional meet advance to the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships, which this year returns to the University of Oregon at Hayward Field on June 11-14.
The 19th-ranked men’s team enters the first round led by Micahi Danzy who became the first dual-sport athlete from track and football to earn a gold medal in the men’s 400, after his lifetime performance of 44.38. The freshman standout reset the FSU record and claimed the ACC meet and conference record, erasing the record set by Judson Lincoln IV from Virginia Tech last year.
The FSU women’s team will be highlighted by sophomore Shenese Walker, who was named the Women’s MVP after scoring 30 points behind three wins at the ACC Outdoor Championships on April 17. Walker competed in the women’s 100 with a meet record and lifetime best of 10.99. The Saint Thomas native helped the women’s 4x100m relay to a first-place finish and meet record time of 43.15. She concluded her night in the women’s 200 with a winning time of 22.72.
LAST TIME OUT:
The Seminoles began postseason action at the ACC Outdoor Championships, earning 10 medals with seven golds.
Kyvon Tatham was named the men’s Field MVP after scoring a team-high 23 points, the most by any FSU athlete of the meet on the men’s side. Tatham was victorious in the men’s triple jump with a mark of 16.09m (52-9½). He also placed sixth in the long jump on Thursday at 7.30m (23-11½).
Andre Korbmacher was victorious in the men’s 110 hurdles, after a lifetime best and fifth-fastest time in FSU history at 13.47. Korbmacher became the first person since Trey Cunningham in 2022 to sweep both the 60 indoor hurdles and 110 hurdles conference titles in the same year.
Alongside Korbmacher, Tyson Williams placed third at 13.74. The men’s 4×100-meter captured gold behind Jaiden Rollins, Neo Mosebi, Danzy and Durian Moss with a time of 39.05.
Mosebi claimed his first outdoor men’s 100 title of his career, easily crossing the line with a winning time of 10.08.
The women’s 4×100 relay team behind Lucy May Sleeman, Shenese Walker, Liana Tyson and Joella Lloyd was victorious with the fifth-fastest time in FSU history and meet record of 43.15.
Kaelyaah Liburd placed third in the women’s 400, matching her personal best at 51.73. Tyra Wilson battled to a second-place finish in the women’s 400 hurdles with a time of 55.45.
