TALLAHASSEE – Florida State softball’s sophomore shortstop Isa Torres was named a First Team All-American by Softball America on Tuesday afternoon.

The Georgetown, Texas, native has been putting together one of the top seasons in FSU history at the top of FSU’s lineup. She is hitting .448 with nine home runs and 45 RBI.  More impressively, Torres is hitting .433 against top 25 opponents this season.

Torres has recorded 95 hits this season which is third in the entire country and leads the ACC. Her 95 hits are the third most in FSU history. She is just five hits away from breaking the 25 year single season record for most hits by a Seminole. The sophomore has recorded a hit in 51 out of FSU’s 59 games this season and has reached base in 54 out of the 59 games this season. Torres has struck out just four times this season in 212 at bats which is tied for the lowest of any player in the Power Four. Torres has also been phenomenal at shortstop as she has made countless jaw-dropping plays at the position. She has a .963 fielding percentage, making just seven errors in 187 chances.
