Former WNBA Standout Chelsea Dungee-Artberry Joins Alabama Staff
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama women’s basketball head coach Kristy Curry announced Friday the addition of former WNBA standout Chelsea Dungee-Artberry to the Crimson Tide coaching staff. Dungee-Artberry, who was an All-American in college and selected No. 5 overall in the 2021 WBNA Draft, will serve as director of player development and recruiting operations, taking on duties as an on floor assistant coach and off-campus recruiter.

Chelsea has not only played at the game’s highest levels, but she also understands what it takes to lead, inspire, and succeed. Her competitive spirit, leadership qualities, and player-first mindset are exactly what we value as we continue building a championship culture at Alabama.”
After being selected fifth overall by the Dallas Wings in the 2021 WNBA Draft, Dungee-Artberry went on to compete professionally through 2022. She most recently served as an assistant coach at Tulsa for the 2024-25 season, helping guide the Golden Hurricane to postseason appearances in both the American Athletic Championship and the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT). Prior to Tulsa, she spent two seasons at Troy, where she assisted the Trojans amass a 39-25 overall record while making a historic run to the WNIT Fab 4 in 2024.
A decorated player at Arkansas, Dungee-Artberry received All-American recognition All-American and once held the Razorbacks’ single-season record with 759 points. She also earned All-SEC First Team honors and WBCA and AP All-American recognition in 2021. Her exceptional offensive talents and leadership on and off the court defined her as one of the most dynamic players in program history. With her blend of elite playing experience and proven coaching ability, Dungee-Artberry will bring immediate value to the Crimson Tide program.

- Guided the Trojans to a No. 2 seed in the SBC Tournament and aided in the program’s first-ever postseason victory in 2023-24
- The Trojans made a historic run to the WNIT Fab 4 that season to cap off the campaign
- Helped Troy turn into an offensive power as the only Sun Belt program with four 100-plus games during the 2022-23 season
- Four-year letterwinner at Arkansas (2017-21) where she ended her career as a Third Team All-America honoree according to the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association, Associated Press and United States Basketball Writers Association (2021)
