Alabama’s Lebron Named Dick Howser Trophy Semifinalist
DALLAS, Texas – Alabama shortstop Justin Lebron was named a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy, the award committee announced in conjunction with the National College Baseball Writers Association on Thursday.
Lebron is one of 67 semifinalists for Dick Howser Trophy, an award given annually to the top player in college baseball. Following the announcement of the award’s finalists on June 7, a news conference will be held on June 13 with the recipient of the trophy at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Neb., the home of the College World Series. The winner also will be unveiled on MLB Network in a special national presentation at 9:30 a.m. CT prior to the June 13 news conference in Omaha at 10 a.m. CT.
Lebron would represent the first winner of the Howser Trophy in program history.

- Alabama’s everyday shortstop and an electrifying five-tool player
- Started all 52 games for the Tide, batting .317 (65-205) with 16 doubles, one triple and 17 home runs
- Also tallied 65 RBI and 55 runs scored to go with 30 walks during his sophomore campaign
- Produced 16 multi-RBI games, including five games in which he’s managed five-plus RBI
- Lebron’s 65 RBI are in a share for second-most in the SEC and 20th-best in the country
- His home run total stands tied for third-most in the conference and 26th among Division I players
- Recorded a team-high 134 total bases to rank fourth in the SEC and 40th nationally
- Contributed 15 stolen bases in 16 attempts
