Walton – Okaloosa Construction Traffic Report
Walton County – May 12, 2025 – Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Okaloosa and Walton counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.
All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
Walton County:
• U.S. 331 Resurfacing Project from south of I-10 to U.S. 90 – The U.S. 331 northbound outside right-turn lane has been temporarily closed at the U.S. 90 intersection in DeFuniak Springs. Two U.S. 331 northbound lanes are available for left- and right-turn movements to access U.S. 90. This temporary traffic configuration will be in place through mid-June to provide space for construction activities at the southeast corner of the intersection. Additionally, drivers may experience intermittent U.S. 331 lane closures, from south of I-10 to U.S. 90, now through Thursday, May 15, from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for paving operations.
• Western Lake Bridge Replacement Project – Drivers may encounter intermittent County Road 30A lane closures over Western Lake Bridge, now through Thursday, May 15, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for delivery of construction materials. During the closures, east and westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane with temporary signals directing traffic through the work zone.
Okaloosa County:
• Brooks Bridge Replacement Project – Drivers may encounter the following traffic disruptions, now through Thursday, May 15, between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for utility work and construction activities:
• U.S. 98 alternating lane closures between Ferry Road and Pier Road.
• Santa Rosa Boulevard alternating lane closures from east of Amberjack Drive to Ross Marler Park.
• U.S. 98 Resurfacing from Josie Road to Florida Place Southeast – Drivers may encounter intermittent U.S. 98 lane closures, between Josie Road in Mary Esther and Florida Place Southeast in Fort Walton Beach, now through Thursday, May 15, between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for paving operations and for crews to place thermoplastic striping.
• State Road (S.R.) 85 Resurfacing and Safety Improvements from Hospital Drive to U.S. 90 – Drivers may encounter intermittent S.R. 85 lane closures, from Redstone Avenue to U.S. 90, now through Thursday, May 15, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for concrete work.
• S.R. 85 Routine Bridge Inspection over Shoal River Relief – Motorists may encounter intermittent north and southbound lane closures south of Interstate 10 (I-10) Monday, May 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for routine bridge inspection.
• I-10 from east of Shoal River Bridge to west of S.R. 285 – Drivers will encounter alternating westbound lane closures between mile markers 59 and 70, Monday, May 12 through Thursday, May 15, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving operations.
