TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State track and field teams are set to compete at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships.

Scheduled for May 15-17 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The meet will be hosted at Kenter Stadium for the first time since 2006. 

In his first year at the helm, Matt Kane is looking to build on the success of 2024, as the men finished fourth with 95 points and the women placed fifth with 68 points.

MEET NOTES:

The three-day meet will begin on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. with the men’s hammer throw that will feature Austin Kleinman and Cooper Crowell. The running events will start at 7:00 p.m. Expanded coverage will air through the ACC Network Extra and can be accessed at Seminoles.com Flash Results will be available.

Florida State has won a combined total of 21 ACC Championships, the second most of any ACC team. FSU recent titles come from the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

The podium finishers in each individual event and the top relay team will earn an All-ACC First Team distinction, while the athletes who finish fourth through sixth in each individual event and the second and third place relay team will be honored as second team.

FSU arrived in the USTFCCCA rankings on April 8 and remained in the top 25 for five consecutive weeks, as the men’s team will be joined by the 21st-ranked Hokies from Virginia Tech. The women’s team enters the meet with No.13 Clemson, No.17 Louisville and No.22 NC State.

Florida State will have a total of 44 student-athletes competing at the championships across 28 events. The FSU men’s team enters the meet with nine top eight seeds and nine all-time performances this season.

Micahi Danzy will look to make an impact at his first outdoor conference championships in the men’s 400-meters, after capturing three ACC Performer of the Week honors during the regular season. His time currently ranks eigth  in the nation at 45.0. Tyson Williams is set to defend his title in the men’s 110 hurdles, after taking home his first ACC gold medal in 2024.

The women’s team holds nine times and marks that are seeded within the top eight, including eight all-time performances this season. Tyra Wilson is the favorite to take home gold in the women’s 400 hurdles, after placing first at the LSU invite on April 26 with a career best and second-fastest time in FSU history at 55.39.  

LAST TIME OUT:  

The Seminoles completed the regular season at the East Coast Relays on May 2-3 with three event wins and a program top 10 from Danzy.

 

Danzy earned men’s rookie of the week honors after his winning performance in the 400, crossing the line with a lifetime best and third-fastest in FSU history at 45.0.

 

The women’s distance squad highlighted the day by taking the top five spots in the 1,500-meters. Suus Altorf led FSU crossing the line with a winning time of 4:14.74. Brooke Mullins finished behind Altorf in second place with a lifetime best at 4:18.69. Nicole Dinan took third with a time of 4:22.34. Bieke Schipperen finished fourth with a personal best of 4:22.46. Emily Brown placed fifth at 4:23.58.

 

Curtis Williams was victorious in the men’s long jump, winning with a mark of 7.83m (25-08.25).

Tyson Williams placed second in the men’s 110 hurdles with a time of 13.71.

 

Kaelyaah Liburd led the women’s sprints in the 400, placing second with a time of 52.10. Altorf also competed in the women’s 800, placing third with a time of 2:04.56.

Austin Kleinman closed out his final regular season competition in the men’s hammer, placing third with a mark of 58.35m (191-05.00). Kyvon Tatham recorded his third straight top three finish in the men’s triple jump, placing second with a mark of 16.22m (53-02.75). LaQuan Ellis followed in sixth at 14.94m (49-00.25).

Shenese Walker led the Seminoles in the women’s sprints, earning a fifth-place finish in the 200 with a time of 23.42. Joella Lloyd rallied her second top 10 finish of the season, placing eighth at 23.72

 

Neo Mosebi finished third in the men’s 200 with a time of 21.13. Amare Williams followed in sixth with a career best of 21.18. Zachary Cloud placed third in the men’s 1,500 with a lifetime performance of 3:44.43.
