Shumaker Named NFCA National Freshman of the Year Top-10 Finalist
Shumaker is the second straight Gator and fourth Florida player of all-time to earn top-10 status.
The four-time Southeastern Conference player of the Week has racked up 76 RBI in her first season, third most of any player in the NCAA and most of any Power 4 freshman.
Shumaker is batting .380 with 70 hits, a team-best 17 doubles, 18 home runs, 30 walks and 18 stolen bases.
The Fullerton, Cali., native is slugging a team-high .777 with 51% (36-of-70) of her hits going for extra bases.
Shumaker has already set new Florida freshman records in RBI, doubles and runs scored and is just one shy of matching the program’s rookie home run record.
On May 22, the list will be trimmed to three with the winner revealed on May 27, prior to the start of the 2025 NCAA Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City.
The top 10 list, along with the top three and winner, are voted on by the NFCA Division I All-America Committee.
To be eligible, student-athletes must be nominated by their member head coach and in their first year of NCAA Division I collegiate competition as a true freshman or redshirt freshman.
Gator Great Amanda Lorenz was named the NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year in 2016.
