TALLAHASSEE– Florida State men’s track and field student-athlete Micahi Danzy was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Rookie of the Week, announced by the league on Tuesday. Danzy earns his third weekly honor of the outdoor season and fifth for his career.
“Great weekend for Micahi,” said FSU director of track and field Matt Kane said. “He was truly focused on his race plan and getting the win. What I liked was the way he ran. It sets him up for great things and faster times as we approach the postseason. I look forward to the next few weeks to see what he and Coach Argro can accomplish.”
The freshman phenom won the 400-meters at the East Coast Relays to close out the regular season. Danzy crossed the line with a lifetime performance and third-fastest time in program history at 45.0. The Tallahassee native holds the eight-fastest time in the country this season and is the fastest among freshmen.
“As we approach the ACC Championships Micahi continues to round into form,” said associate men’s head coach Ricky Agro. “I believe he can do great things this postseason.”
Danzy will compete in the ACC Championship in Winston-Salem, North Carolina from May 15-17.
