TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 5 Florida State baseball team completed a series victory over No. 3 Clemson with a 20-9 walk-off, run-rule victory in eight innings on Sunday afternoon at Dick Howser Stadium.

The Seminoles (33-10, 14-7 ACC) earned their highest-ranked series win of the season. It is the team’s ninth series victory of the year and fifth in seven ACC weekends with two weeks remaining. Both of this weekend’s wins over the Tigers (37-12, 14-10 ACC) were walk-offs, with an 11-inning win on Friday night before Sunday’s run-rule triumph.

Florida State’s offensive attack featured a seven-run second inning and a five-run eighth, fueled by six home runs, including three in the walk-off eighth inning. It’s the first time since March 28, 2021 that FSU hit three homers in one inning and the third time this year the team has clubbed six long balls in a game.

The Garnet and Gold hit .500 (6-12) and scored seven runs with two outs. The Tigers were hitless with two outs. FSU scored its 20 runs on 21 hits with no errors and Clemson scored nine runs with 11 hits and one error.

Junior second baseman Drew Faurot provided the walk-off heroics with his second homer of the day. Junior shortstop Alex Lodise also hit two home runs, including a two-run shot earlier in the eighth inning.

Three players had four hits, the first time the Seminoles had multiple players with four hits since April 19, 2023. Faurot was joined by junior right fielder Gage Harrelson and freshman first baseman Myles Bailey. Lodise added three hits.

Bailey, who also homered, had five RBI and Faurot and Lodise had four. Faurot, Harrelson and Lodise added four runs scored.

Lodise’s two home runs give him a team-best 41 in his career and a team-high-tying 16 in 2025. Faurot’s two blasts were his 31st and 32nd career and 10th and 11th of the season. Bailey hit his 11th homer of his debut campaign. Junior center fielder Max Williams also homered in the contest and shares the team lead of 16, and it was his 30th career dinger.

Florida State jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first and added seven in the second and two in the third to make it 10-0. Clemson answered with five in the fourth to cut the lead in half, and the visitors scored four more in the sixth. Single runs in the fourth and sixth made it 12-9 after six before the Seminoles tacked on three in the seventh and five in the eighth for the 10-run victory.

On the mound, redshirt senior Joe Charles picked up the win to improve to 2-0. He did not allow a run in 2.2 innings and held CU to two hits with five strikeouts and a walk as FSU tallied its final nine runs.

A Lodise solo home run got the scoring going in the first before a seven run second made it 8-0. The Seminoles sent 12 batters to the plate in the inning and five of the seven runs scored with two outs. Sophomore left fielder Chase Williams had a two-RBI single to end the frame, and sophomore third baseman Cal Fisher and Harrelson also singled home runs. A wild pitch, bases-loaded hit batter and bases-loaded walk also plated runs.

Two more runs in the third made it 10-0 as Lodise drove in one with a sacrifice fly and Bailey singled in another with two outs on an 0-2 pitch.

Clemson answered with five in the fourth to make it 10-5. Redshirt freshman left-hander Payton Manca got the final two outs out of the bullpen.

FSU got one run back in the fourth on an RBI single with two outs by freshman catcher Hunter Carns.

The Tigers added four in the sixth on a pair of two run home runs to cut their deficit to 11-9. However, Charles came in and got the final two outs and that was as close as Clemson would get and the last runs the visitors would score in the series.

Faurot’s first home run of the day down the left field line led off the sixth to make it 12-9, and Bailey’s three-run blast down the right field line in the seventh extended it 15-9.

In the eighth, Lodise got the scoring going with a two-run shot to right-center, and Max Williams went back-to-back with a solo shot. That made it 18-9. A strikeout and a walk later, Faurot stepped to the plate and sent the first pitch he saw over the right field fence for the Seminole win.

FSU plays its final midweek game of the season at home against Jacksonville on Tuesday, May 6. First pitch at Dick Howser Stadium is at 6 p.m. ET. Tickets are available at Seminoles.com/Tickets or by calling the FSU ticket office at 850-644-1830.
