First-Seeded Gators take on Arizona State in Big 12 Conference Tournament

BOULDER, Colo. – The No. 4 and first-seeded Florida lacrosse team (16-2, 5-0 Big 12) take on Arizona State (11-7, 3-2 Big 12) for the second time in seven days in the Big 12 Conference Tournament Championship on Saturday. First draw is set for 3 p.m. ET at Prentup Field.

The Gators are coming off a great showing in the semifinals, where they defeated UC Davis by a score of 22-2 on Thursday. Gianna Monaco totaled six goals and two assists, good for career highs in goals (six) and assists (eight). Florida outscored the Aggies 9-0 in the second half.

Arizona State is coming off an 18-12 victory over Colorado on Thursday evening. It is the fifth career meeting between the two teams, with UF leading 4-0. The squads met in Gainesville last Saturday where UF won by a 17-5 margin. Florida has won the four matchups by an average of 11.00 goals per contest.

Trying to Keep it Going

UF is looking for their 12th consecutive conference tournament championship, as they are 11-3 all-time. Florida defeated James Madison 21-11 last season in the AAC tournament championship. In their 11 consecutive conference championships, UF has outscored the opponent by 8.00 goals per contest.

Defense Getting It Done

The Florida defense has allowed just 13 goals over their last four contests, holding opponents to 13-for-69 shooting during that time frame (.189 percent shooting). The Gators have held teams under 10 goals nine times this season, including six of the last seven games. Florida is allowing 8.89 goals per game overall this season, good for eighth in the nation.
