The Gators’ throwers and distance runners set a strong tone for the final weekend of the outdoor slate.

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Gators began the final weekend of the regular season at the East Coast Relays in Jacksonville on Friday, and multiple athletes posted season best performances.

Highlights
Throws
The tandem of Florida’s Gracelyn Leiseth and Alida van Daalen took first and second respectively in the women’s Shot Put, with van Daalen making her season debut in the event. Her 16.11m [52′ 10.25″] effort marked a return to the event for the first time since the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships, when she earned USTFCCCA All-American status for her sixth-place finish.

On the men’s side, Logan Montgomery yet again improved on his season best, launching to an 18.38m [60′ 3.75″] mark in the Shot Put. In four appearances this outdoor season, Montgomery has improved his season best at every meet.

Distance
Fleming Island native Graham Myers showed out in his return to the ‘904,’ earning his first career win and a personal-best time of 8:55.24 in the 3000m Steeplechase. The Freshman appears poised to play a prominent role in the future of Florida’s distance efforts, having nearly broken into the program’s all-time top-10 Steeplechase marks with just his first official time at the collegiate level.

Liina Winborn and Kate Drummond each posted season bests in the 5000m, and Ashley Fitzgerald posted a personal best in the 1500m.

Up Next
The Gators’ split squad will continue competition tomorrow, with athletes competing in Jacksonville as well as a group of sprinters and jumpers taking on the LSU Invite in Baton Rouge.
